Cotton Museum

We also visited the Cotton Museum. For many years, Memphis was the a world center of cotton trading. The scene in the image would have been similar to what was seen in the late 1800s after the invention of the telegraph but before the computer era. ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... According to the Museum, Columbus found cotton growing in the Bahama Islands and this was one thing that led him to believe he had discovered India.

Lorraine Motel

We went to the Lorraine Motel historic site. This is where Martin Luther King Jr was killed in 1968. Everything has been preserved as it was that day. The shadow of the motel sign is visible on the image of the motel. .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... On the hotel, near the left is a red and white ribbon showing the exact spot where King was when he was killed.

I went to another 'reunion' with College Friends. We've been doing this for over 20 years. We play cards and visit tourism sites. This first image is from Beale Street in the heart of Memphis.
